Tomorrow, I’m off to visit relatives. This requires a four-hour drive to the airport, a two- hour flight, an hour on a shuttle bus, followed by a short Uber ride to the in-laws. All so I can enjoy two weeks of record rainfall and many hours of sitting on sofas listening to stories I’ve heard dozens of times before. As Jerry Seinfeld said (referring to many years of dating) “it’s a lot of acting fascinated.”
Rest assured, I won’t be leaving the house unprepared. I’ll be taking my laptop, which, unfortunately, is not compact and lightweight, (it’s also slower than the fast lane at Safeway on Christmas Eve) a notebook for scribbling story notes, the all-important trashy reading material, and of course, my phone. How did people live before cell phones? Really, I want to know.
I don’t know how much writing I’ll get done, but I’m sure my mind will be wandering off to fantasyland and hopefully generating some good ideas while I’m there.
I do have a story submitted to MyErotica. No word yet on if/when it will be published. No Christmas theme, but I could say that my characters give themselves and each other a ‘present.’ I’ll leave you with a line from “Hot Night at the Drive-In.”
Annie opened her legs a little wider to make room for David’s hand which had slowly made its way up her leg and was now wedged between her thighs. She squeezed her legs together locking his hand into position without taking her eyes from the screen.
Happy Holidays!
Love Rebel.
